Toowoon Bay (2 minute video) By Ron Taylor Originally billed as the "ANGLERS Vs. SPEARMEN".  Spear fishing competition sign-on and weigh-in 1960. Toowoon Bay, New South Wales. Held on the January long weekend every year (now called Australia Day). The guy with short hair holding up a big jewie was R. "Bob" Taylor (donor of The Taylor Shield which still exists today). Bob Taylor (called R.Taylor) was president of Sydney Sea Hunters club comprised of inner city members from working class semi-slums of Pyrmont, Glebe, Erskinville and Tempe. Bob had a plumbing business and later retired to his Currarong NSW holiday house. Also at the weigh-in is demure John Gillies (aka 'The Little King').
Accomodation, Shoal Bay flats 1962
